Abstract: This paper, presented at the ECREA Conference on Communication Policies and Culture in Europe of 25-28 November 2008, introduces the links between the level of ownership pluralism and content diversity, reviews methods to measure concentration in the media markets and examines whether the Diversity Index endorsed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission could be used in the Hungarian context.
