Files: Government-leaning media-firms gained hundreds of millions _ atlatszo.pdf
Abstract: After Hungary's public service media fund, the MTVA, rejected requests from watchdog NGO Atlatszo to disclose its budget for the last fiscal year, Atlatszo obtained the data through an insider leak and released them online, analysing the data in a couple of detailed reports in March 2013. This is a one-paragraph summary of those articles in English, with links to the full reports (in Hungarian). The documents show how the biggest beneficiaries of the Fund’s outsourcing policy were media companies and producers close to the governing party Fidesz, like Gábor Kálomista or László Jáksó’s company, which produced the failed sitcom "Marslakók". Such media entrepreneurs received large amounts of public money, benefiting to the sum of 500–800 million Forint.
